Appointed to manage the reputation of the world's leading networking vendor with the UK press, Cisco Systems wanted to both build positive relationships within its traditional technology media, whilst also building its image within the business press. It also had to establish a foothold within a series of new technology markets.
To win over the technology community Insight initiated a new level of information sharing, including pioneering Cisco's first product reviews programme. Applying and modifying material developed at a worldwide and European level, Insight developed a series of parallel campaigns tailored to the issues and concerns of specific UK industries. This successful approach enabled Cisco to gain 57 per cent share of editorial coverage within its competitive circle (the closest competitor, Avaya gained 16 per cent) and in particular Cisco gained approximately 85 per cent of coverage within the national press.
